{"id":13647,"date":"2018-09-17T07:52:02","date_gmt":"2018-09-17T07:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wsa-global.org\/?post_type=person&#038;p=13647"},"modified":"2023-07-17T16:24:30","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T16:24:30","slug":"anicia-peters","status":"publish","type":"person","link":"https:\/\/wsa-global.org\/person\/anicia-peters\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Anicia Peters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Prof. Anicia Peters is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Informatics at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.<\/strong> She has a wide variety of experience in the IT industry and academia having worked in the tech industry in Silicon Valley and Namibia and also at Oregon State University in the United States and at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. Her research work focuses on Human Computer Interaction and addresses areas across Social Media, Gender, Marginalised and Unemployed Youth, and E-Government.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>She is a native from Namibia and currently the Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), a Council member on the Namibia Council for Higher Education (NCHE), and a board member of the Internet Society Namibia Chapter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She was featured as one of twenty prominent personalities in Namibia\u2019s Who\u2019s Who for 2017. She is also one of 10 Afchix\u2019s African Women in Technology Rolemodels across Africa who is showcased through videos as inspiration to young girls across Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>She obtained both her PhD and MSc degrees in Human Computer Interaction at the Virtual Reality Applications Centre (VRAC) at Iowa State University in the United States. She earned two undergraduate degrees in Information Technology, both cum laude, from the former Polytechnic of Namibia.
